    Sick Chook?

Thanks, she seems a lot happier now, I put a bit of garlic in the drinking water just in case but it might have just been one of those seasonal things.

    Why are Zucchinis shrivelling up?

Since this thread I've spoken to a couple of locals who have had the same thing happen this year. One guy reckons in the wet weather there is a type of fungus that can grow down through the flowers and into the fruit causing this exact problem. Cheers

    Sick Chook?

Hey gang, I have one chook who isn't very happy at the moment. She's still active, eating and drinking (seems to be drinking a lot of water lately, more than normal) but she has lost colour from her combs. She 'might' still be laying but I'm not 100% on that, seems to be scratching with her be...

    Why are Zucchinis shrivelling up?

Thanks guys, no bugs, the plant looks really healthy, we've have plenty of rain as well. And actually now that I measured them they are closer to 10 cm long and about as round as your thumb. Cheers

    Why are Zucchinis shrivelling up?

Hey gang. I have nice large Zucchini plant growing ATM and while it does have a few Zucchinis on it they are only growing to around 15cm long and then they start to shrivel up. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

    Raised bed questions

Hey gang, long time no post. :) Given current events I am focusing a bit more on food security at the moment and have decided raised beds are the way to go (after weighing up the notion of buying a rotary hoe V raised beds). I already have a couple of raised wicking beds but was after some...

    Planting out bananas

I'd leave it till spring just in case. Our bananas get smashed if a frost gets to them so imagine your little ones wouldn't fare too well.

    Anyone know what this is?

Thanks for that, I don't mind wait and see but it's in a location where if it turns into a tree it might be an issue. :) After a heap of googling it looks like it's a 'Royal Empress Tree', a species of Pawlonia, not what I want growing where it is. :)

    Anyone know what this is?

I've been letting this plant grow thinking it was a sunflower but now I don't think so. Can someone tell me what it is?

Sure thing. I'll edit my posts accordingly or maybe Mark would prefer to remove the thread altogether. :)

    Activated nuts anyone?

So we've been buying activated nuts for years now but the price is getting a bit ridonculous. So has anyone tried it for themselves? Apparently it's not that hard, soak nuts in salted water overnight (but not so long for cashews) and then chuck them in the dehydrator. Will post pack after my...
