I'm growing yellow button squash for the first time.
The squah are now larger than what I would purchase if I was at the markets. They are still pale green. Do I pick them now and wait for them to ripen or leave them until they turn yellow on the plant?

Those don't sound like yellow button squash to me if they are greenish.
Yellow zucchini & squash should start life yellow!
Maybe you have green squash which grow to about small Jap pumpkin size.
In which case they are probably ready to pick now.

Thanks for that tip. I've hecked my records and its Jaune et Verte squash which is lime green. I'll pick one for dinner and see how it tastes.
