Problem Ginger holes

    So I’m growing ginger at home, some of it was showing above ground and I noticed it has large holes going into the ginger. Any idea what could be eating it? I’ve covered the top now with soil. Otherwise the plant looks healthy

    On the ginger itself going into the rhizomes (if that spelt correctly)
