:) as if you didn't know, here in Adelaide we're in total lockdown, 6 days but potentially more and I know for a fact that those 6 days could just whiz right by if I'm not careful so I'm setting a goal to achieve one major thing in the garden each day. Today, as I was letting the chickens out, I noticed that the dragonfruit had just gone bonkers, must be the recent rains and lots of sunshine? The pictures are not great but you can get the idea, do I need to trim it at all or just leave it as is? I had planned to put out some cuttings I took when I moved this one and seeing the growth, that is my challenge today, I will try to work out and plant some against the pine trees you can see in the background of the third picture and somehow secure them on the Eastern side so they don't get fried in the afternoons.

Day Two, I needed to get these little guys out from their cage, using just stuff that I had around the place so it looks quite slap dash but I'm good with that ;). As long as it works. One or two of my days will be decidated to dispatching as there are a chorus of ****-a-doodle-doos sounding in the mornings.
and WOW, I hadn't looked at the cuttings from the dragon fruit for a while but they are all sprouting!! Yesterday was quite warm, 36c I think, so I didn't get that days goal achieved, this morning however was nice and so I will probably just tackle the dragon fruits over time in the afternoons!!

Day Three is kind of a follow on from about three or four days ago, I'd bought (yep, had to pay for and get delivered) a pile of mulch so I am slowly top dressing all the garden, it's supposed to be 37c again today!! The bed I covered earlier in the week has really shown good results, a few wilted leaves that I put the mulch around have picked up and now look like actual plants that may grow and provide a harvest :D
I'd watered early this morning and while taking out a lot of the old leaves noticed a heap of slaters and earwigs so I sprinkled some diatomaceous earth around the base of the plants, I had also planted a mushroom patch in this bed but it looks like it has been eaten by the insects, I'll be interested to see if the number of annoying bugs decreases at all. By the time I'd finished at around 9am, the sun had broken through the clouds and it was already feeling warm!

Looking good Vicky, those are some nice sized raised beds.

Are those little silky chickens? They are so fluffy!
The raised beds we made not long after we came here, an old tank had holes etc and was being used as an overflow anyway so we changed it's title and purpose :)

Yes, they are silkies, very small and don't fly so, unlike other birds, I don't have them all over the fences and into my gardens!!

Day Three ended our lockdown - and day four was kind of windy and stormy so that was an inside day, I've identified some roosters without any doubts and will be using the few remaining days of what would have been lockdown to manage that aspect of homesteading - so, no pictures!! Happy with what has been achieved in such a short time and since my part time work has wound up (albeit a tad earlier than expected) I may continue in the same manner, weather permitting.
Cheerio
