Off grid mini Aquaponics setup using an old chair

Turtles would be fun, however I feel that the more waste created the better. I was watching Rob's channel and noticed a few things there I liked, his Roo Pouches seem great. Might get some eventually when I look at giving potatoes a go; his self watering whicking system is quite clever too.

Off grid mini Aquaponics setup using an old chair

Gear seems pretty simple, just need a bit of room by the looks of things. So do you typically eat the fish or preserve them to ensure well fed plants? Thank you for the link to Rob's channel, giving him a go now.

    Hello Darlings

Well, I'd say they are indeed some form of dragon fruit, the flowers are very close to a video that Mark uploaded a while back, albeit much, much smaller than his.The photo appears to show a large flower, but it's no larger than a clenched fist. Quite pretty though, half a dozen of them in total...

Off grid mini Aquaponics setup using an old chair

Has anyone found some material on aquaponics that you would consider too good not to share? It's something I wouldn't mind having a look into, seems like a fun project, albeit time consuming.

    Hello Darlings

@ClissAT I almost forgot, as requested earlier, I got some close ups of the suspected dragon fruit. All in all there appears to be about a dozen rooted plants, the one big cluster as shown previously, and then 5 or 6 smaller groups further up the driveway. I'll show the plant and the root base...

    ongrid water bills?

I'm not sure to be honest, I hope not however lol. Never been a big fan of Churchill, Sir Oswald Mosley was more my cup of tea. Had more men like him been leading the countries of the world, the second world war likely never would of happened. More on the quote though, I don't think that it's...

    Question What's eating my produce/plants?

It all seems rather secure and I must admit, I was quite surprised not to see any snakes. I should probably stop wearing shorts and flip flops when I go see the chooks though, might be asking for trouble. Gross. I'm looking to plant a bunch of trees in the future so that I may reduce my 4 hour...

    Hello Darlings

We're all lacking in most things it seems, I desperately want to stop lining the pockets of Woolworths and Coles. Paying for food void of nutrition and full of chemicals, I thought the Government was there to ensure such things didn't happen at our expense. Thanks Andrew, this guy is great...

    Hello Darlings

Not a problem Darren, just something I found on Youtube a while back; I believe they said to use 2-3 peels in about 5 litres of water, let it sit for a couple of days and go for gold.

    ongrid water bills?

Absolutely, and having been in the automotive industry for eight years with Jaguar Land Rover, I honestly would not be surprised if technology is being withheld from consumers and released slowly to ensure new models are 'worth' purchasing. It's all upside down at the moment, I was looking to...

    Question What's eating my produce/plants?

It is quite a large coup and with very tightly woven mesh, it's the long grass and the enclosed stable attached to it that worries me. Going to be a few weeks of hard work to get the place ship shape; I'll post some progression photos along the way. Thanks again Darren, much appreciated pal.

    Hello Darlings

It certainly appears to be the case, thanks for the warm welcome. The only issue I have, is finding the base of the plant haha, it's running rampant inside the pen. Well I certainly hope they'll be content with the ample supply of long grass they've been presented. I think culling them is out...

    ongrid water bills?

They do indeed, the history is all rather shady though to be quite honest with you. A lot of what Tim says is quite profound, a bit of frustration mixed in for good measure, but profound none the less. I'd like for him to make an appearance again, has anyone had contact with him? The same is...

Huge outdoor pizza oven building project pledge

Interesting fact for the pair of you, they're known as Roman arches, or 'keystones' the angled stones utilise the above and below stones to pinch the central stones, and they swap roles as the arch progresses, being both a central and supporting stone (upper and lower). I'm still of a firm...

    Question What's eating my produce/plants?

Well I won't be setting up the two snake repellents the owners left us, seems like a waste of several large batteries. maybe Eveready and Duracell manufacture the pest controllers.... Bloody buggers.

    Hello Darlings

Now I can see why people shoot the critters... I'll look at extending a fence out past the chicken coop and stable then, should save me a wall at least. I was going to build raised beds, do you think that the added height would fail to deter them still?
  17. Tynan

    Hello Darlings

I'll have to look into dealing with the roos lol, I like having them there as they're pleasing to watch of an afternoon. I wonder what deterrents are available; the cd's sounds good for birds too.

    Hello Darlings

If I put an old bullbar near the garden beds, do you think that would scare them off?

    Hello Darlings

Good morning Andrew & Darren, Thank you both kindly for the sound and consistent advice you've provided. I will indeed leave the pumpkin until the end of it's fruiting life. It's a real shame about your peaches Andrew, such a wonderful fruit, and the birds appear to think so too. Well, for the...
