I am from northern ky and came across this site today as I researched raising bobwhite quail. I live on a small 6 acre farm and will also be raising rabbits and hopefully raising a garden by next year. I have lots to learn and appreciate any help along the way. I was raised on a cattle farm and have been an avid outdoorsman my whole life, along with being a nuisance wildlife control operator. So hopefully I can add some valuable tips for keeping your flocks safe from predation. Hope everyone is having a good day, take care.

G'day Chad. Good to have you here. I'm sure you'll have no trouble breeding rabbits!
You'll find a good array of practical information on this forum to help you get started with your garden.
We're all in similar situations here but some members have lots of experience and others like me are brown thumbs.
But I'm gleaning from the knowledge of others here and it has been very helpful.
Enjoy.

HI Chad,
Welcome aboard. Rabbits are illegal to keep here is Qld (as stevo mentioned), and guns are tightly controlled as well (as they are all over the country).

Hi Chad,
Welcome to the forum. I intend to develop a herd of Dexter's in the not too distant future (hopefully). They are good for meat and milk and my wife is interested in cheese making and I love beef. We also have wild dogs here, but so far they haven't attacked our goats, so any tips on how to deal with the dogs would be good. They are very sneaky and elusive, so shooting them can be quite hard.
I look forward to your input

Hi Chad,

thanks for joining SSC mate! I'm very interested in hearing about rabbit raising for food (even though I am not allowed to keep them) but I do keep quail for eating and can provide a bit of info on this if you like... I don't have any Bobwhites (as yet) but I have been keeping other breeds of coturnix/Japanese quail including other breeds besides the standard such as: Texas A&M, tuxedo, and Italian.

Cheers :)
