Hi,
I am fairly new to SSC but have gained so much knowledge already.
We have a small farm and I have just successfully hatched 10 Quail and 3 chickens in our borrowed incubator.
The hatching rate wasn't great but considering the power went out for five hours one night, I think we were lucky to hatch any at all. When I woke to no power the eggs were all quite cold. This was about day 10 so I was very surprised that any survived. I am looking forward to learning lots more with everyone's help.
Andy

Welcome to the forum. There is plenty to read and learn from on here, and lots of good people who will answer any questions you might have.
I've been wrestling with an incubator myself. First batch were duds, but this lot look promising.

Thanks so much. No doubt I will have many questions later down the track.

Welcome to SSC Andy!

It's weird how resilient some batches of eggs are to hatch out in bad conditions but then other times how everything seems to go right and the hatch rate is poor! Sometimes I just don't get it lol...

Once we left my mum babysit the kids for a weekend and my batch of quail hatched out a day early - mum had to call us on the phone and get step by step instructions on what to do with 40 quail chicks running around! She's never forgotten it :)
