Over the past 6 weeks I have lost 10kgs (about 22 pounds) and I really didn't do anything special or suffer any drastic lifestyle changes.

All I have simply been doing is cutting my portion size for main meals down slightly so when I finish eating I'm feeling satisfied but not full.

Also, I'm exercising daily instead of every other day but not exercising as much in the session and this seems to be working better because whilst I'm not going as hard the daily regular exexercise and outdoor work is keeping my metabolism kicking along thus burning more calories.

Amusingly enough, I too have been taking this strategy as of late. Well, as much as I can. I've lost about 60 lbs over the course of a year.

Feeling a little guilty after having eaten a large meal tonight now lol

BUT! Buying a fitbit really motivated me to get moving on a daily basis. It helped so much.

I just inherited a fitbit from my wife - she can't wear it at work anymore because it has bluetooth and her safety regs make it illegal now so it's mine! I haven't worn it yet... still sitting on my bedside table because I have a Vivo (which was also my wife's - she won it). Oh the choices one has to make in life... :p

Safety regs? wow very strict.

I do think the bluetooth can be disabled on the fitbit itself, or are the regs so strict that they can't even have the ability?

Personally, I find the fitbit app to be excellent. The Vivo is not as good to me.

I get the first one after I have commented, then if someone else comments after that I don't.
Yes, it's the way the system is designed Kate supposedly so it doesn't annoy members by sending them heaps of emails on a busy thread with lots of replies.

I have found a way to increase all notifications but not sure whether to implement it or not... I don't want to drive people crazy with heaps of notifications but I do want people to regularly visit our forums so more reminders to come back would help that.

The issue with the current system I have is I get an email notification I read it but I have nothing to reply to it or its not relevant to me the poster maybe responding to someone else post. So I don't post a reply. Then if the next or future posts are relevant or address to me I don't know about it until I go to the site and see alerts which I check.

I do understand what you are saying with lots of notification emails possibility driving people crazy. One forum I am on simply sends out an email saying there are new replies to such and such post that you are following but not the content of the post so people have to go to the site to read the replies. This could be a good way to get more members to visit this forum.

People always have the option to unfollow a post.

Maybe you could do a post on the subject and ask members what they would like for notifications on posts.

haha! personally I found that drinking my calories was really inefficient. I have pretty much given up drinking anything besides water 99.9% of the time. I thought it would be hard, but I actually find soda to be disgusting now.

As for wine, when I have it, I always stick to just one glass!

Weight is that nasty thing that men can shed but many women struggle with all their lives.
For me, dieting is the act of teaching my body to stay fat on less food & more exercise!
There are medical reasons for it.

Letsgo, re the lack of notifications, open the home page of the forum, make a shortcut by dragging the icon from the address bar onto your desktop, or add it to favorites then create a shortcut if using chrome, you can click on it anytime & come to the site & look to the right hand side to see all the recent posts or new threads.
Then there is the weekly Most Popular Topics list that is emailed. That's what I'm working through right now. Every topic is linked so I just need to click on it.

That made me laugh out loud, thanks :p I struggled with it for MANY years myself. Until I found something that worked. Walking a TON.

I have struggled with my weight for a long time, until now, i have some kind of stomach issues so ive turned to paleo, which i actually am really enjoying. :) i cant eat corn though makes me sick for a few days, and i have to be vigilant about even buying a soy coffee out as alot of soy milks have nasty ingredients that can make me look pregnant from bloating up so bad.

My advice for everyones best health is to cut out the grains completely. I tell ya, cauliflower rice is actually insanely delicious and saves alot of time in the kitchen. Paleo diets will really help in avoiding nasty deseases, cancer, heart conditions, brain conditions etc. The benefits are unreal..

And my last tip: dont believe what 'they' tell us ie; eat every few hours for your metabolisim ( thats simply not true and not scientifically backed)
You need milk for calcium (also false)
And dobt trust the food triangle, its totally backwards .

If you want to hear scientific evidence Dr Michael Van Der Schelden is your man, hes help me understand alot.
