For all you guys in SE Qld, this is one event that has just taken off since it started 5 years ago. FFF has had unprecedented patronage because of its family friendly environment not too far away from the big smoke, and yet removed enough to enjoy the sights (and tastes) of rural life.

Lots of food stalls, lots of food production stalls, great food preparation presentations, including Matt Golinski, as well as self-sufficiency/sustainability information for everyone (small and large scale). They had ancient (1800-early 1900s) contraptions to show us how they got corn kernels off cobs, steam engines and as usual presentations on livestock - something in it for kids, hobby farmers and primary producers.

Definitely worth the trip out, the only down side being the incredible traffic in and out of the venue. One road leading in making a considerable bottle neck - we arrived just after 9.30am (it opened at 9am) and cars were crawling in from over a kilometre away.

Got some photos to share on the event, but the highlight for all of us was to catch up with Costa the gardener (Gardening Australia on ABC, in case you weren't aware of him) after seeing him at the Toowoomba Royal Show a few days prior...

Sounds great Ash!

What a cool pic :)

I hadn't heard of the Felton Food Festival. Toowoomba and the whole region is a perfect place for such a thing due to the huge range of produce grown around the area.

I'll post a few photos when I can get a moment away from work...
Mark, definitely worth the visit. They had DPI and and regional council stalls featuring information on soils and how to manage them that I was really impressed with. Great advice from a lot of experts.

It's taken me this long to start editing photos I've taken the last few months, so this might be a little belated. But this was what I was talking about when I said there was a crowd:

Nice weather! If it rained out there it would get messy!

It's obviously the people who make these events so it's good to see the crowds.

Great time of year - pretty dry but that's what it needed to be. Warm but not too hot.
I don't think they would have had a wet weather contingency plan...

wow that's a lotaaa cars! and a bit of exercise for people.

Good to see it still works

Yep. I decided to park the car right at the end of the T-junction and walk our way up.
The machines back then were designed to work forever - no electronic parts to wear out or crumble, and every bit of it is maintainable... Not much made these days is like that...
